HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Next Sunday folks across the country will set off fireworks to celebrate Independence Day.
Many here in our region have the unique opportunity to shop for the best deal in West Virginia, Kentucky, or Ohio.
One church is hoping this year you'll put your firecracker cash toward a righteous cause.
This Sunday morning service at Bible Apostolic Church was hotter than usual.
Saturday night thieves stole three of the building's air conditioning condensing units.
"That's probably the worst thing a thief could do is steal from a church," Pastor David Fairburn said.
However, his congregation doesn't let their spirits down long.
“They think they're going to gain with the stolen product they've taken from our church, but in the long run, God's blessings are always going to be poured out on his people that are faithful and true to him,” Pastor Fairburn’s wife Helen said.
For the church, blessings come in the form of pyrotechnics.
For the eleventh year they're cashing in on the high demand for Fourth of July fireworks.
"To celebrate our country's independence is a wonderful thing, and I think patriotism and all those feelings we have embedded in our hearts is a good thing to express," Pastor Fairburn said.
Church members say the explosive entertainment is a fitting fundraiser considering their style of praise.
"We love the fireworks,” Helen said. “It's a beautiful display of our appreciation for the country we live in, and our excited worship is a beautiful display of our worship for our God."
They'll use the money for various projects throughout the year, including sending kids to church camp and helping fund mission trips.
They'll also get some new air conditioners.
The church's tent is set up in front of the Huntington Wal-Mart on Rt. 60. They'll be selling fireworks Monday through next Sunday.
The church is selling 55 thousand dollars worth of fireworks gets to keep 20 percent of the money they make.
The rest goes to the company that provided the items, TNT Fireworks.

To just wondering: Do you have any proof for this at all? Or do you only have the "its true cause the bible says it true" proof? Just remember all the other holy books of the world say the same thing and chritians are not the only ones posting here.
I don't care what you imaginary friend "thinks". Get out of the bronze-age please, let these old superstitions die.
It really doesn't matter if you believe that there is a GOD or not. What you believe doesn't make it so. What matters is, IS THERE A GOD and if there is a GOD, what does GOD think of those who don't believe in HIM!
