NEW INFO: Farmers' Market Vouchers Now Available
The state Department of Agriculture says seniors can start signing up for produce vouchers.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP & WSAZ) -- The state Department of Agriculture says seniors can start signing up for produce vouchers.
The agency says the $20 vouchers can be used to buy vegetables and fruit at farmers markets around the state. The U.S. government has given the state $520,000 for the program this year.
Demand was so great Friday in Huntington that nearly 75 people had shown up within an hour. More than 550 vouchers have already been passed out through the Cabell County Community Services Organization.
The Agriculture Department says people who would like to participate can sign up at senior centers. The agency says you have to be at least 60 and meet income requirements to qualify.

In Cabell County, vouchers can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the following locations:
- Monday, July 12th- Milton Senior Center
- Tuesday, July 13th-Underwood Senior Center
- Wednesday, July 14th- Salt Rock Senior Center
- Thursday, July 15th- Barboursville Library
- Friday, July 16th- Greenbottom Community Center
- Tuesday, July 19th- West Senior Center

Why can't watermellons, peaches. etc be purchased?? The list provided with vouchers list these as eligible foods?? something change since print time?
AintBuyinIt: its actually $20, and it may not seem like a lot, cause Im sure your so wealthy, there is alot of Seniors that are on a fixed budgeted income and they are thrilled to get the help. and to Sheila, arent watermelon and peaches fruit ? Maybe since these are vegetable vouchers, you can only get vegetables
