Volunteer Firefighters Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary
Two Ona Volunteer firefighters were honored Saturday night, and it wasn't for putting out flames.

ONA, W.Va. (WSAZ) – It was not your typical fire department dinner.
Two Ona Volunteer firefighters were honored Saturday night, and it wasn't for putting out flames.
Murrel and Ann Chapman have been with the department for almost 30 years, but they've been married for 50.
Murrel has done it all at the department, from washing trucks to serving as fire chief.
For the past three decades Ann has helped with fundraising and given plenty of hot meals.
Murrel is retired now, but he still volunteers his time at the fire station.
"The people that's here, I think an awful lot of them,” Murrel said. “They're my friends, and that’s the reason they're here. I did come around the curve down there and thought, ‘What’s going on at the church today?’ That’s the first I knew anything about it. They got me!"
Friends say the couple’s contributions have helped make Ona's volunteer fire department one of the best in the state.
