HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Just about every dog owner thinks their pooch is the best around.
However, not every pet can take home the title of the best dog at the Huntington Kennel Club's Annual Dog Show.
More than 450 of man's best friends were strutting their stuff Sunday at the Veterans Memorial Field House, making for some very proud dog owners.
"We come for he fun of it,” Sandy Jeffers said. “We really enjoy getting out and being around the other dog people, the other breeders, and other people who enjoy showing their dogs, and it’s good for the dogs to get out and get around people and be socialized, and they seem to really enjoy what they do."
This is the 88th year for the Huntington Kennel Club's dog show.

Luther, sounds like you have a good thing there; something the average dog has a chance for. I understand no K-9 dogs, but wonder why they wouldn't be welcome? I'm not telling you how to run your show, but it would be nice to include police dogs. Most of them have real heart at what they do. Something to think about at future shows. Anyways, I wish you lots of success.
I drove by the Field House yesterday and saw some of these show dogs out in the heat locked up in cages. With temps in the high 90s, was this a good idea? Q: Where do you find a dog with no legs? A: Right where you left it. Q: What would you name a dog with no legs that stays on the porch? A: Matt
You think you've got any real talented sporting dogs...bring them down to the old Huntington High on a Friday night...we do our own dog show of sorts. No K9 units though, they wouldn't be welcome. Prizes are given for 'best of show' and 'most heart'. Oh, and don't worry about papers or blood lines, we actually challenge the dog...not look to see who has the most money to spend on Lassie.
