HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Cabell County Grand Jury has indicted Jason Sadler with the shooting of Rebecca Noble.

UPDATE 7/16/10 @ 8 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Shooting suspect Jason Sadler remained in jail Friday night on a $30,000 bond in connection with a shooting that happened earlier this week in Huntington.

Sadler also had two outstanding arrest warrants on unrelated charges.

Another shooting Friday morning in the 1900 block of 9th Avenue was the second this week in that area. It was just a few days ago Tuesday morning that police found a woman also shot in the back about a block away from Friday's shooting.

While it certainly has neighbors upset, police say they have things under control.

Police gathered about 7 a.m. Friday around the 1800 and 1900 blocks of 9th Avenue to determine who shot 40-year-old John Pinkney in the back.

It didn't take them long to get their answer. Not only was Pinkney able to tell them who, he also told them where to find Ernest "Jamie" Johnson -- a suspect in the Friday morning shooting.

"They knew each other," Huntington Police Lt. John Williams said of the two men.

Johnson is charged with malicious wounding and faces a $50,000 bond.

His arrest came just hours after Sadler's. Sadler was charged with malicious wounding and wanton endangerment in connection with the shooting of Rebecca Noble on Tuesday.

Police found her shot in the back in the parking lot of the former Sunoco station at the corner of 20th Street and 9th Avenue. According to the criminal complaint, Noble could be seen walking down the sidewalk when she was hit. At that time, another person was seen ducking from the shots and hiding behind a parked car.

Police say the two shootings are isolated incidents.

"We're working to keep things under control," Williams said. "I know it's hard to believe, but we are making strides."

For at least the last two years, the Huntington Police Department has increased patrols in that part of the city. The result has been a decline in violent crimes and an increase in arrests.

Both victims are said to be making steady recoveries in the hospital.

UPDATE 7/16/10 @ 10:30 a.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Huntington Police arrested Jason Sadler, 19, of Huntington early Friday morning in connection with the shooting of Rebecca Noble .

That shooting happened Tuesday morning at the corner of 20th Street and 9th Avenue.

According to the criminal complaint, Sadler was arrested during a traffic stop in the 100 block of 27th Street shortly before 2 a.m.

Officers say they found a .40-caliber pistol in the glove box of the car.

They say Sadler gave them two false names before they verified his true identity.

They also determined Sadler has two active felony warrants.

Police say he is originally from Detroit and has a criminal history.

He is being charged with wanton endangerment, malicious wounding, obstructing, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Sadler was arraigned in Cabell County Magistrate Court Friday morning.

Police say Sadler also goes by the name of Jamim Mark

The criminal complaint indicates that several shots were fired during Tuesday's shooting. One of the shots hit Noble as she walked along the sidewalk.

UPDATE 7/13/10 @ 7 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An early morning shooting in one of Huntington's high crime areas raises alert and questions.

Police say it happened around 8 a.m. Tuesday at the corner of 20th Street and 9th Avenue. A man shot a woman in the back and then took off running. Neighbors say crime in this area is normal, but after two years of targeted police enforcement should it be?

"If you come around here, you can get what you want -- sex, drugs, shot," Huntington resident Kinsley Johnson said.

And shot is exactly what one woman got Tuesday morning. Police found her lying in the parking lot of a convenience store, formerly known as the Sunoco station. She had one gunshot wound to the back. The man who shot her is on the loose.

"I think it’s isolated, but anyone who would pull a crime like this is dangerous," Huntington Police Lt. John Williams said.

Kinsley Johnson has lived in the 1800 block of 9th Avenue for many years. In that time, he says criminals have taken over.

"These people don’t even have addresses here and they’re dealing dope," Johnson said. "It doesn’t seem like the police are getting rid of them."

But police say things are getting better. The area sits right in the middle of what's known as the Weed and Seed area. It's a federal grant program designed to target high-crime areas with more enforcement. In Huntington, that area is only a little more than 1 square mile.

"Crime is down 6 percent, and arrests are up 4 percent," Huntington Police Capt. Hank Dial said. "If a shooting happens in front of your house, it’s going to seem like crime is bad. We still have a lot of work to do, but we’re going to continue the programs and come up with even better solutions."

Police have identified the victim. Her name is Rebecca Noble and she’s 45. No information was available on her condition.

Police are still looking for the suspect. He's described as African American, 6 feet tall and with a medium complexion. He's said to have a thin build and was wearing an orange shirt and gray khaki pants.

If you have any information that could help police, you're asked to call the Huntington Police Detective Bureau at 304-696-4420.

Why is it that everytime theres a shooting people think its over drugs? Not everything has to do with them. Noone is perfect and all of you are judging him because of a mistake he made? I can garantee you all have something your ashamed of and in God's eyes, theres no one sin bigger than another. If you go out and cheat on your husbands or wives or even if you just steal a piece of candy, your just as guilty as he is. He'll always be my baby and I'll always be his ride or die! Trust and believe! He might make mistakes, but he'll always live with the guilt. I love you baby and I can't wait for you to get out and come home!
