PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) -- A 19th century clock once owned by West Virginia oil and gas pioneer W.C. Stiles has been donated to the Oil and Gas Museum in Parkersburg.

Museum director Dave McKain says the clock is a "precious piece" of the area's history.

McKain says Stiles' great-granddaughter, Anne Stiles Sinskey of Malibu, Calif., donated the clock to the museum.

The clock was made in Philadelphia in 1810. Stiles brought it to West Virginia in 1863 and it sat in his mansion, Thornhill, for many years. The clock became a family heirloom that was passed down over the years.

It's nearly 8 feet tall and the face is illustrated with a sun and moon.

McKain says the museum is working to get the clock running.
