TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio's top court is suspending the law license of a judge who faced complaints of boorish behavior from the bench.
An Ohio Supreme Court panel says the judge from northwest Ohio behaved in an undignified and unprofessional manner toward lawyers and defendants in his courtroom.
Van Wert Municipal Court Judge Phil Campbell will lose his law license for six months according to decision issued Thursday.
Complaints against the judge accused him of calling a lawyer a derogatory name and using his position to make people do what he wanted.
The court panel says Campbell also asked defendants embarrassing questions about their personal affairs.
A call seeking comment was left Thursday for the judge's attorney.

I so so agree with you two. It is unjust that some people are let off and some little person gets the book thrown at them, but until people find a way to report this to someone higher up it will be this way, it has already been for years. I wish I had evidence of the corruption I would definately report it to someone in the higher up out of this co. I just know of what goes on from hearsay but know it is true because the whole county seems to know that it goes on. I would like to see the drug dealers put away and stop letting them off, that is why our co has so much crime. But the dealers get off and the young addicted get sent off to prison. Stop the dealing and we wouldn't have near the crimes. But then the courts know this and there has to be a reason the the dealers get off, are they their supplier.. no crime no need for so many people working the court systems.. what is more important lives or money..in Gallia co it is money. Can't take it with them when they die but Satan is happy.
I agree Anonymus Gallia County has it's share of Judges that should be let off the bench, not for just 6 mon but for the rest of their natural lives. When their "good old buddies" come up before them.. and they wipe their cocaine noses... and dismiss or smack lightly with a fine... We the people lose. I say wipe them all off the bench and get someone who will be FAIR to everyone... not their Republican buddies , drug buddies.... or their wife's friends... Clean Slate for a better Gallia County
I have been in front of this judge. Boorish is putting it lightly! Anyhow...he resigned after this, he is gone for good...and I cant think of anyone that has had the pleasure to meet him is sad about it!
