UPDATE 07/18/10 @ 1:25 P.M.
BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - West Virginia American Water says the precautionary boil water advisory that was in place for part of Boone County has been lifted.
In a news release, the company said, "The advisory was issued Saturday after a water main break. Results of water quality testing have confirmed that water quality meets drinking water standards. Therefore, customers in that area are no longer advised to boil water prior to consumption."
ORIGINAL STORY
BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - West Virginia American Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for a residential area in Boone County.
The affected area stretches from Bias Branch Road in the Jeffrey area to Schoolhouse Branch Road in Ottawa. It also includes the following roads: Hewett Road, Jones Branch Road, Meadowfork Road, Miles Branch Road, Three Mile Road, Vernon Hollow Road, Nichols Branch Road, Jims Branch Road, Balls Branch Road, Sycamore Branch Road, Chambers Hollow Road, Mill Creek Road and Garretts Fork Road.
This advisory is because of a water main break that West Virginia American Water crews are working to fix.
Affected customers should boil their water before consumption until further notice. Customers are asked to bring water used for drinking, cooking, bathing and brushing teeth to a full boil for a minimum of one minute, then cool before use.
