HAROLD, Ky. (AP) - A manhunt in Pike County ended peacefully after a man suspected in a shooting called Kentucky State Police to turn himself in.

According to a news release from the state police, troopers advised of a shooting on Friday found the 50-year-old Jimmy Thacker Jr.'s abandoned vehicle on Island Creek.

Once a National Guard helicopter joined the search, Thacker called a state police post wanting to turn himself in. He exited the woods and was taken to the Floyd County Detention Center.

The victim, 27-year-old Elizabeth Conn, was flown to the University of Kentucky hospital in Lexington with gunshot wounds.

State police are continuing to investigate.
