HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Marshall sophomore DeQuan Bembry has been dismissed from the football team following a Sunday morning arrest.

According to the Huntington Police Department, Bembry was arrested about 3:30 Sunday morning in the 1400 block of the 4 1/2 alley in Huntington.

The 20-year-old has been charged with DUI. Huntington Police say his blood-alcohol content was double the legal limit, registering at .174.

Bembry, who's real name is DeQuan Starling, was booked into the Western Regional jail at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the jail's website.

Marshall football coach Doc Holliday dismissed the cornerback from the team soon after the arrest, releasing this statement through the program's Sports Information department:

"I am very disappointed in DeQuan and he has been dismissed from our
football team."

Holliday's dismissal comes after Bembry's fourth arrest since March of last year.

In April of this year, Bembry was charged with misdemeanor assault of a police officer and underage consumption. In May of 2009 DeQuan Bembry was arrested on a felony marijuana charge, which was later reduced by the Cabell County Sheriff's Department to a misdemeanor. Before that arrest, in March of 2009, Bembry was charged with misdemeanor public intoxication.

Bembry played defensive back for Marshall in 2009 as a redshirt sophomore. He led the team with three interceptions, including one in the closing moments of the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl.

You can't define yourself by what might have happened to you in the past. You need to look back. Learn from it and use it as a tool to be a better person. Instead he appears to like the 'ol pitiful me' limelight. The man needs help and I hope he gets it. Right now in his mind, I'm sure he's thinking..no biggie...but these 'choices he is making, are his own fault, none others' One day he will look back in regret, but for now he's in the 'it's everyone else's fault, not mine stage. I hope someone intervenes with this kid and cracks open that hard head of his before it's too late. Drinking/drugging have gotten way out of hand since my days @MU. They need, like the work force, have some kind of rehabilitation for people like this..I know there has to be more out there...they just don't make headlines until they kill each other!

Bembry is no better than Randy Moss and they certainly didn't kick Moss off the team for his 'indiscretions'! Instead, Moss went on to further embarass MU and WV while playing college ball and now he is viewed as a hero. Not in my eyes, he is a lowlife. Bembry could have made something of his life had he gotten some help but instead, MU made an example of him. Shame on them for not doing that to Moss!!
