UPDATE 7/19/10
COAL GROVE, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Coal Grove is a world away from Afghanistan, but a family there says the two worlds collided yesterday when news broke of Justin Allen’s death.

Bill Murray had a chance to speak with Allen’s family and has more on a proud family's loss.

"Sadness, very sad. I don't show my emotions outwardly not like she does. I just have this tension or whatever it is building up in my chest. My heart's heavy but I try to be tough,” said Allen’s father.

For a proud father it’s not easy. Outside the Allen house in Coal Grove, Ohio, there is wreath that speaks volumes. The yellow ribbon that wraps the tree -- broken, the hope -- gone.

The Allen family is mourning the loss of their son Justin, the pictures in their home show not only a soldier but a son and a brother. Full of life. but this weekend Sgt. Justin Allen, an army ranger, was killed in Afghanistan.

“Every time he had a chance he'd call. He tried not to call every day because he knew if he called everyday, a day he didn't call that I'd be scared," said Bonnie Allen, Justin’s mother.

Sgt. Allen was on his fourth call of duty, in Afghanistan for the last two months.

“He always played Army as a little boy, he always liked being outside,” said Justin’s sister.

Justin was a late in life surprise -- 20 years younger than his two siblings.

“He turned out to be the light of our life,” said Justin’s mother. “It's pretty traumatic, I'm a grandmother and my doctor told me I was pregnant. I said, I can't be, I'm a grandma. He said, that doesn't matter, we had two babies in the house instead of one."

Bonnie has lost her baby her baby boy to the horrors of war, but the body language in the Allen’s living room shows there's strength, love, comfort and a sense of pride that a beloved son did not die in vain.

“In God's mind and God's way of doing things, he has fulfilled his purpose through what Justin did,” said Justin’s father.

Justin was 2005 graduate of Dawson Bryant High School. His goal was to go on to college. He was thinking about a career in Sport's Medicine and he was also planning to marry.

Justin and his fiancé, who's also in the military, had a wedding planned for November, 2010.
