ORIGINAL STORY 7/20/10 @ 10 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A strong thunderstorm has made some Huntington area roadways impassable Tuesday night, including the 10th Street viaduct, Cabell County 911 dispatchers say.
Meanwhile, high water rescues have been reported in some parts of our region.
There were some reports of motorists stranded in their vehicles, including a woman in the 2400 block of 5th Avenue. No injuries had been reported as of 10 p.m. Tuesday.
A Cabell County dispatcher said other viaducts were open as of 9:30 p.m., but could be closed in the near future.
As late as 11 p.m., motorists are asked to avoid all of the city's viaducts, as well as 3rd Avenue in the vicinity of St. Mary's Medical Center and the 2400 to 2500 blocks of 5th Avenue.
"Third Avenue around St. Mary's is nothing but water," a dispatcher said. "It's 3 feet deep in places."
High water problems also were reported in other parts of our region, including Lawrence County, Ohio, where a swift water rescue was reported about 10:15 p.m. on County Road 18.
