W.Va. Lottery Revenues Fall Nearly $135M
Figures released Thursday show the Lottery's revenue totaled $1.35 billion for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 9 percent below the previous fiscal year's total.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- The West Virginia Lottery's revenues plummeted nearly $135 million in the 2009-2010 fiscal year as a weak economy and competition from casinos in Pennsylvania kept gamblers away.
Figures released Thursday show the Lottery's revenue totaled $1.35 billion for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 9 percent below the previous fiscal year's total.
West Virginia's four racetracks saw the biggest decline. Racetrack video lottery revenue declined by 12 percent to $746 million.
Racetrack and casino table games revenue totaled $31.7 million, 12 percent below projections.
The state's share of Lottery profits was $589 million, compared to $656 million collected in the previous fiscal year.

I'll tell you why Charleston dog track is losing money, those slot machines are ridiculous! They don't give you anything to even play back. No one wants to play if they have nothing to play on. I know the house always wins, but DANG! They have no one to blame but themselves.
