WEST HAMLIN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Hardee's in West Hamlin is temporarily closed after one of its deep fryers caught on fire Friday evening.
Some quick action by fast food employees helped save the business, the West Hamlin Volunteer Fire Department chief says. Their quick thinking also prevented people from getting hurt.
The chief says, at one point, flames were coming out of the deep fryer's vent on the roof of the building.
The fire started just before 7 p.m. Friday.
No one was hurt, but there was minimal smoke damage throughout the building.
The restaurant will remain closed until the county health department decides it's safe to reopen.

well i went into the Hardees in south charleston 2 weeks ago and they couldnt serve anything fried to us because their deep fryers caught on fire and they were cleaning them out and fixing it. Kind of strange that it happened at this one. Same company but different location?
Thank you Rodger for pointing that correct observation. Most of the "above the stove" or frier extinguishing units are nothing more than high pressure devices which use basically nothing more than baking soda. Perhaps it's long past time to have dated and graded inspection stickers on all food service facilities. If the state can't afford to spare the workers to properly do it; then it should be contracted out. And some wonder why this state usually gets a bad rap
Umm too everyone who is sayin stuff that they know nothin about.. It sumthin tat couldnt be prevented.. Hardees is the first and only place that this has happened to.. I work there and I was there at the time.. An for ur info we were jus inspected and PASSED.!!!
