UPDATE: WVU Officials Explain Huggins' Fall
|
|
UPDATE 7/30/10 @ 3:18 p.m.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia University says
basketball coach Bob Huggins' rib-breaking fall occurred because
medication taken on an empty stomach left him lightheaded.
President James Clements and Athletic Director Oliver Luck told
the Charleston Daily Mail that Huggins stood too quickly, tripped
and fell into a table in his Las Vegas hotel room last week.
WVU spokeswoman Becky Lofstead confirmed the report today. She
wouldn't say what the medication was.
Huggins broke seven ribs and was hospitalized for several days.
Last summer, the former Cincinnati coach got two black eyes when
he walked into a door in the middle of the night.
In 2008, he was checking phone messages on an airport tarmac
when he tripped on a cone, fell and hit his head.
UPDATE 7/28/10 @ 5:15 p.m.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia University says men's
basketball coach Bob Huggins has been released from a Las Vegas
hospital.
The university says Huggins was released Wednesday. He had been
hospitalized since breaking seven ribs in a fall in his hotel room
on Friday while in Nevada on a recruiting trip.
UPDATE 7/25/10 @ 8 p.m.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- A spokesman for West Virginia's basketball team says coach Bob Huggins is going to be in the hospital longer than expected.
Bryant Messerly says Huggins was still hospitalized Sunday and is expected to be released in the next "couple days." He says he does not know if Huggins has experienced complications.
Huggins had been expected to be released Saturday. He broke four broken ribs in a fall in his Las Vegas hotel room Friday.
Messerly says the coach is being held for observation.

I hate to do this, but I think Don has a valid point about the fan loyality at WVU. The reason I hate to agree is because I am a WVU fan and a class of '81 Alum. we do have a whole bunch of band waggon fans, and I agree with his call about the day Huggins leaves. Get well Huggins, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
