UPDATE 11/25/10
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Thanksgiving is a day to count your blessings, and one family hasn't stopped all day.

Megan Foltz is six-years-old, in first grade and now officially a cancer survivor.

Megan spent the last five months in a hospital bed fighting acute myeloid leukemia, a cancer that attacks the bone marrow. Megan was diagnosed, treated with multiple rounds of chemotherapy and released -- all in 145 days.

"It was the worst days of our lives," Megan's mom Sonya Beckett said, "But the end is the happiest."

After all those months Megan was released from the hospital last Tuesday, just in time to spend Thanksgiving at home with her family.

"Words really can't express how happy we are," Beckett said, "She's home."

Megan will have to go back to the hospital for checkups during the next few months, but her parents said the hospital has given her a clean bill of health.

ORIGINAL STORY 7/25/10
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A community came together Sunday to help raise money for 5-year-old Megan Foltz Beckett. She has been diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia.

Folks joined in on a car wash in Huntington and raised nearly $1,000.

Megan has been in the Cabell Huntington Hospital since June 23.

There are more benefits for Megan in the coming weeks. The first will be a community yard and bake sale set for Saturday, August 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the VFW in Guyandotte.

The biggest event, MEGAN'S ROCKS, is set for Saturday, August 21 at Holderby's Landing at the Riverfront. More than a dozen bands are set to perform. Admission is $10 per person and all proceeds go directly into a fund for Megan.
