NICHOLAS COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Richwood Police aren't releasing details surrounding the motive behind a murder Sunday, but families involved have their own theories.
Ronnie Ellison was found dead at his daughter, Jenny's home on Sunday afternoon.
Ellison's wife, Venus, says she went with her husband there to pick up the keys for his mother's car. Ellison two teanage sons were also along for the trip.
"He walked in the door and the boys ran back out and said Tim shot dad."
Venus says she ran in the house and found her husband shot to death. She claims that Timothy Jones told her to get out or he'd shoot her as well.
Jones is married to Ronnie's daughter and is charged with murder for his death.
"You'd never thought in a million years he'd shoot somebody, especially his wife's dad," said Venus.
Celia Ellison was in the hospital when she heard the news that her son had been shot. When she heard who allegedly did it, she didn't believe it.
"I would have never thought that out of Tim. Tim was the nicest person you could meet. Something must have snapped in him," said Ceila.
While some family members believe something went terribly wrong Sunday, others believe the murder was an act of self defense.
A preliminary hearing for Jones has been set for August 2.

Ron was much bigger than tim at least 50 ponds im sure fear has a role in a much bigger man ready to fight already in your house,Ron was a good man who had flaws like every other man i have flaws everyone in here posting has flaws and has sinned but who is anyone to speculate or judge a situation that you were not a part of and is not affecting you.Only one man right now has the ability to explain the situation and one side of the thought process that caused this catastrophe The police will get this side and do what they feel necessary. there is a family hurt and worried confused and scared right now allow them to rest their minds from this needless bull. You all know if the shoe was placed on your foot you wouldn want complete strangers judging anyone in the situation. Tim took care of his family Ron took care of his family both good men major and tragic misunderstanding. R.I.P. Big Ron, all love and prayers to the family. And tatts dont make a man thats a hard workin man right there
This is to Mr. Dick Slinger.....I am one of those baby boomers you speak of. Not all of us are intolerant or racist. We just happen to think tattoos are not appropriate. Is that word (appropriate)politically correct enough for you? I sure would not want to hurt your feelings with my over aggresive use of the english language. You wish death on the old folks in this country? We are only drawing from our medicare and SS because we paid into it all of our lives. You are paying into it now (if you work) so you can recieve it when you are old...if you make it that long. The government told us they would set this money aside, when they held it out of our pay, in an interest bearing account so it would be there for us when we reach our golden years. I am sure they will do you the same favor. So Mr. Slinger, as you understand now, this is not money you are paying...unless of coarse the government lied to us way back yonder. Keep your tattoos..just send me my check....Dick.
hate tattoos? man, i sure wish you intolerant racist baby boomers would hurry up and die. i'm sick of paying your medicare and your social security.
