COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Changes coming to Ohio motor vehicle registrations are meant to cut down on personal information that could be found by someone breaking into a car.

Registration certificates currently show the vehicle owner's home address. Starting Aug. 9, motorists will see certificates with a portion that won't have the address, and they'll be instructed to carry only that piece in the vehicle.

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles said Wednesday that the part of the registration without the address will have all the vehicle information needed by law enforcement in a traffic stop.

Ohio Public Safety Director Thomas Stickrath says drivers will be able to keep the registration in their car without worrying that their personal information could be stolen or compromised.

Why don't our state start charging the people who come over to WV and keep their OH tags with Tax Evasion? Sounds like a good plan to me.

Why does the state (taxpayers) have to go to all this expense and trouble? To me, the answer is obvious. Make ID theft a F1 crime with life in prison, hard labor. Why do we always go out of our way to try and "make" people honest? Anyone smart enough to do ID theft is old enough to know its wrong. Lock 'em up for life. Make 'em work like dogs (and I mean no insult to dogs). Forget all this crap the U. S. Supreme Court says about their "rights." As far as I'm concerned, they gave up their rights when they committed their crimes.
