FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Georgia-Pacific will close its plant in Fayette County this fall, taking nearly 100 jobs with it.

The company has notified workers at its Mount Hope plant that it will stop production by Oct. 1.

According to a notice, the shutdown is expected to last longer than six months.

Georgia-Pacific spokeswoman Melodie Ruse says it's unclear when the plant would reopen or whether the shutdown would be permanent.

The plant produces strand wooden boards for residential construction. Ruse says the building material isn't in demand.

The company shut down the plant last December for the same reason.

Roane county....The Larry with caps lock was not the first Larry (me). Caps lock Larry must be the CEO of some large company. He does not live in the same world you and I live in and spews things that in my opinion make no sense. The last time I bought gas it was up to $2.79 per gal. I wish he would define hard work. Maybe he is like Ross Perot and thinks we should have a national alarm clock that wakes us at 4:30 AM to start our 12 hour work day. Maybe he is like the rest of these bubble boys that want to have Mexicans do all the work for low wages. I think you made a very good point that an old Jackson County neighbor can understand. Keep up your good thinking and remember more of us are on your side and not the side of caps lock Larry.

Roane county, did you stop to think that our short supply of gasoline and high prices was due to the booming economy? Did you stop to think that the slow down in the economy is causing prices to go down due to demand being low. Sorry but anti-business socialist democrats like yourself are destroying this country. There is nothing wrong with wanting to succeed and if you do succeed through hard work, you should not have to give it to those that do not take the chance...Look back at the Jimmy Carter days..same recession, same beliefs...truth hurts....
