PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Several small explosions kept police busy in Pikeville on Wednesday.
Detective Phillip Reed with the Pikeville Police Department tells WSAZ.com that several homemade explosive devices were found around the city.
"Officers arrived and discovered a device that been put together using a liquid solution when mixed together, created a reaction which caused a small explosion," said Detective Reed.
Detective Reed says one of the devices was found at the courthouse and another was found inside a mailbox.
"At this point we've identified four individuals that were involved," said Detective Reed.
The Pikeville Police Department will continue the investigation and plan to obtain charges in the case.
The suspects could face a criminal charge of possession of a destructive device, which is a felony.

treason? Seriously?
to any one that cares, i lost 343 brothers and sisters in the towers. it is my opinion that the people that made these bombs be brought up on charges of treason and terrorism. prank or not, its not funny and its time we take a stand!!!!!!
to D, doesn't matter what the explosive devices were. they caused fire, police, and ambulance personnel valuable time that could have been tragic if those services were needed in an emergency situation. if someone had been standing near the "explosive devices" as you call them--the BOMBS--they could have been hurt. so i don't care if it was just coke and mentos, the prank was not funny and not innocent. they should be charged and prosecuted for their little stunt. they should have to do community service--perhaps they can be the ones to have to open suspicious packages found. they should certainly have to pay for a new mailbox and installing it if one is needed. they should have to do volunteer work for emergency services to make up the time lost during this "prank." and they should be made to apologize to everyone involved. of course, dropping them into afghanastan with bombs on their backs isn't a bad idea either.
