CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- An appropriations bill approved by the U.S. House of Representatives contains $1.6 million to improve the West Virginia Army National Guard Armed Forces Reserve Center in Fayette County.

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall says the funding would be used to buy and install a high-powered emergency generator at the Glen Jean facility. The funding also would pay for security measures.

The House passed the bill late Wednesday. The Senate will consider its version of the legislation.
