CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- One man's bright idea is giving the state Capitol's old chandeliers a new shine.

The three Czechoslovakian hand-cut lead crystal chandeliers are receiving their annual cleanings this week. But unlike past years, harsh cleaners are not being used.

Instead, Chris Campbell and his company, Acu-bright, are using a method he patented that uses ultrasound technology and de-ionized water.

The ultrasound allows microscopic bubbles to attack any dirt and grime that may have accumulated on the glass over the past year.

Campbell's process is safer for the 77-year-old chandeliers, which he says are pieces of art that cannot be replaced.

The chandeliers are in the Capitol's rotunda and in the House and Senate chambers.
