UPDATE 9/15/11
WILLIAMSON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man from Catlettsburg convicted of murder in Mingo County will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Darrell Davis, 48, was sentenced to two life terms without mercy for the murder of Gary Newsome
Prosecutors say Davis entered a cabin along Newsome Ridge, near Kermit, in July 2010 and shot his estranged wife Laura Davis and Newsome.
They said Davis then dragged Laura out of the cabin and put her into his vehicle before setting the house on fire with Newsome inside. Newsome was found dead inside the burned out house.
Investigators say Davis then took Laura to Flemingsburg, Ky., where his cousin lives. Davis' cousin then took Laura to a hospital in Morehead, Ky. to be treated for her wound. Laura was later flown to a hospital in Lexington.
During his August trial, Davis was also convicted of kidnapping, arson and burglary which carried additional prison terms.
