ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The search for a new city council member in St. Albans has been narrowed down to two candidates.

Mayor Dick Calloway closed the nomination for the vacancy.

Lana Taylor and Cheryl Thomas have expressed interest in the seat. They will have to prepare three to five minute speeches about why they should be chosen to represent the fourth ward. They will present them to council at their meeting.

The council seat has been empty since June when John Caudill resigned. He represented the fourth ward for the past 12 years.

Caudill says business obligations are the reason for his resignation.

I sincerely hope that Mrs. Thomas gets this position for several years now she has worked on community projects without title I truly feel she want the position for the love of community not as a title holder. Im glad there is an oppurtunity to get some fresh views in this area! Sincerely hoping our comunity gets the oppurtunity to see exactly what you can do!!! Continue the good work you have started and Im sure success will not only come to you but our community as well.
