LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Over 100 mine workers lost their jobs today, in three different West Virginia counties.
In Logan County, Alpha Natural Resources shut down their Hatfield Energy underground mine, Superior surface mine and a coal prep plant in Omar. 30 people lost their jobs, 65 were transferred to other operations.
All the shut downs are effective immediately.
There were also production cuts in Boone and Fayette counties. 11 jobs were cut at the Republic Surface Mine in Fayette County.
In Boone County, production cutbacks at the Black Castle Mine and Trace Transport forced 59 people out of a job - about 12 others were transferred.
