Kentucky Amber Alert Canceled; Girl Safe, Father in Custody

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A 2-year old girl has been found safe and unharmed while her biological father has been taken into police custody, according to multiple media reports near Louisville.

Kentucky State Police canceled an Amber Alert for the missing girl. NBC-affiliate WAVE in Louisville, citing Metro Police, says Joshua Yeager had his 2-year-old daughter Jaylynn Maxey in the vehicle with him as he led police on a chase on Interstate 65 southbound late Tuesday night.

Yeager was taken into custody early Wednesday morning along U.S. Route 31.

Yeager, 24, is believed to have robbed the Stockyard Bank and Trust in Shepherdsville, Ky. Police say Yeager took a gun out of the child's Doc McStuffins backpack. They also say he has a long criminal history.

Maxey, 2, had been missing since Saturday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- While a 2-year-old girl and her non-custodial father who abducted her remain missing, police found the car they believe the two had occupied.

Jaylynn Maxey, 2, is the biological daughter of suspect Joshua Yeager. He is the non-custodial parent.

Police say Jaylynn has been missing since Saturday, Oct. 5.

There was no sign of either Jaylynn or her father, despite the car being found.

It was described as a maroon 2000 Ford Taurus, with the hood and roof painted black and gray. It has New Jersey tags with the registration VHM-20Z.

Yeager, 24, is believed to have robbed the Stockyard Bank and Trust in Shepherdsville, Ky. Police say Yeager took a gun out of the child's Doc McStuffins backpack. They also say he has a long criminal history.

Yeager's direction of travel is unknown, but he has family in Scottsville, Ind.

He is described as about 6 feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 185 pounds. He has brown hair, blue eyes, a full-sleeve tattoo on his right arm and a Chinese symbol on the left side of his neck.

Jaylynn was last seen wearing a black-and-pink tank top, a pull-up diaper and sandals.

If you see either Jaylynn or Yeager, you are asked to call your local 911 center.
