UPDATE: Police Say Point Pleasant Man Dies after Killing Wife

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The man who police say shot and killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself has died.

Point Pleasant Police Chief Ernie Watterson tells WSAZ.com Richard Franklin, 49, died about 1 a.m. Monday at a Huntington Hospital.

Police say Kelli Franklin, 43, was shot and killed about 12:30 p.m. Sunday at her home in the 1900-block of North Main Street.

Officers say her estranged husband, Richard, got into an argument with Kelli and it spiraled out of control with Richard shooting Kelli and then turning the gun on himself.

Kelli Franklin died at the scene. Richard Franklin was still alive when officers arrived and was rushed to Pleasant Valley Hospital. He was later transferred to Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Neighbors describe hearing several gunshots and then called 911.

Family members of the victim say the couple has not lived together for several months.

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police are investigating a murder and attempted suicide, leaving the suspect in critical condition.

Investigators tell WSAZ.com Kelli Franklin, 43, was shot and killed about 12:30 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 1900 block of North Main Street.

Officers say her estranged husband, Richard Franklin got into an argument with Kelli that spiraled out of control. Investigators say Richard shot Kelli and then turned the gun on himself.

Kelli Franklin was pronounced dead at the scene. Richard Franklin was still alive when officers arrived and was rushed to Pleasant Valley Hospital. He was later transferred to Cabell Huntington Hospital. He is listed in critical condition.

Neighbors describe hearing several gunshots and then called 911.

Family members of the victim say the couple has not lived together for several months.

Police were still processing the crime scene late Sunday night.

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman is dead and a man is in the hospital after an apparent murder and attempted suicide.

Point Pleasant Police tell WSAZ.com the received a call about 12:30 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 1900 block of North Main Street.

Neighbors describe hearing several gunshots and then called 911.

Investigators say when they arrived they found a woman dead from gunshot wounds. They also found a man still alive and police allege he shot the woman before turning the gun on himself in an attempted suicide. The man was rushed to Pleasant Valley Hospital.

Family members of the victim say the couple has not lived together for several months.

They were arguing, sparking the violence, according to police. There names are not being released right now.
