NEW INFO: Two Arrested in Home Invasion; Names Released

UPDATE 2/7/14 @ 9:30 a.m.
ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two men are facing charges in connection with a home invasion robbery in St. Albans.

St. Albans Police say they responded to a home in the 2600 block of Furlong Avenue about 9 p.m. Thursday after the residents say two men came into their home and tried to rob them.

The victims say one of the men held a victim at gunpoint while the other, who had a hammer, went to a bedroom and stole prescription pills.

St. Albans Police and Nitro Police, along with K9 units from Nitro, Hurricane and West Virginia State Police cordoned off an area and searched for the suspects.

Police say they found Timothy Westfall, 24, of Madison, who they say was the one with the gun during the robbery.

At that time, Dustin Gard, 26, of Turtle Creek, called Westfall's phone, which police had confiscated. They say he was trying to get out of the area and wanted to know where Westfall was. Not knowing he was talking to police, they say he was led to Alameda Street where he was taken into custody.

Westfall is charged with first degree robbery, nighttime burglary, five counts of wanton endangerment, conspiracy to commit a felony, felon in possession of a firearm and fugitive from justice. Police say he was wanted out of Florida on a battery charge.

Gard is charged with first degree robbery.

Police say there were originally reports that a third person was involved in the robbery. However, they say the two men confessed to their roles in the crime and denied a third suspect.
