ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Two men have been arrested in connection with stealing scrap metal and wire from an electrical contracting company.
Sheriff Patrick Kelly says the men were seen taking about $3,000 worth of scrap aluminum and electrical wire from Kal Electric on Hebbardsville Road in Athens.
Deputies then found Jerry Smith, 30, and Brandon Masters, 19, who admitted to stealing the wire.
Deputies say Masters has previously been in trouble in connection with another scrap wire theft incident -- where an officer was injured.
As for Smith, there was already a warrant for his arrest. Deputies say he stole a purse in Chauncey last week.
Both men are being charged with breaking and entering.
