HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Arson to cover up a burglary is believed to be the motive for a fire that burned down a house in the Altizer section of Huntington, according to Huntington’s Fire Chief.
Fire crews were called to the 4700-block of Altizer Avenue just before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday
Chief Carl Eastham tells WSAZ.com that no on was in the house when the fire started. He says the occupants were recently evicted and still moving items out of the house.
Eastham says investigators found several guns in the backyard. He would not say how many or what kind of guns were found.
The Chief also says investigators have several leads and will be taking a look at surveillance video from homes in the area.
No word on what as used to start the fire.
Investigators with the HPD are also involved in the investigation.
