UPDATE: Five People Hurt in Crash on Route 817 in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Five people are recovering after a two car crash in Putnam County.

The accident happened Thursday evening on Route 817 at the intersection of Stewart Acres, near the John Amos Power Plant.

Deputies tell WSAZ.com, two SUVs crashed head on. They aren't sure what caused on of the SUVs to cross the center line.

Several of the victims were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

No names have been released just yet.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 5 p.m. Thursday, at the intersection of Stewart Acres. The scene was near the John Amos Power Plant.

Dispatchers say two people are trapped in a car, one person has been ejected from a car.

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va.(WSAZ) -- Emergency crews are on the scene of a car crash on Route 817 in Putnam County.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 5 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Stewart Acres, which is near the John Amos Power Plant.

Dispatchers say two people are trapped in a car, one person has been ejected from a car.

Dispatchers say they are not sure how many cars are involved in the crash.

Route 817 is closed in the area.
