UPDATE: Meth Lab Found in Crawl Space; Homeowner Arrested

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Cabell County Sheriff Deputies have arrested the man who they say operated a meth lab found under a trap door in his house in Culloden.
Sheriff Tom McComas says William Martin Jr., 42, of Culloden was arrested Thursday morning and charged with operating or attempting to operate a clandestine lab.
McComas says the lab was found at his home in the 2200-block of 4th Street in Culloden on August 30.
Deputies say the meth lab was under the trap door in a large, hand dug crawl space.
The Sheriff says it was the largest meth lab they had ever seen.
Heather Hatfield, 36, and Scott Vincent, 44, were arrested the night the lab was found. They were charged with operating a clandestine meth lab.
The two said they did not live at the house and claimed no knowledge of the lab. The owner of the property was not at home when the lab was discovered.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Deputies serving a domestic violence petition stumbled upon what they are calling one of the biggest meth labs that they have seen.
"I was surprised. I didn't know what was going on here. I just shut my gate to let my chickens out," said Dallas Loveoy.
Lovejoy is all about his quiet, peaceful life in rural Cabell County. But squad cars and handcuffs changed the landscape and shook things up Thursday night.
“Does it scare you?” WSAZ.com asked.
"Oh, yeah. I don't want my place blowed up," said Lovejoy.
And that's been a real concern lately for far too many folks in Culloden, W.Va. where they've seen a spike in the meth lab activity.
"It seems to be the number of incidents we've had in that specific part of the county has increased," said Sheriff Tom McComas.
Heather Yvonne Hatfield and Scott Allen are the latest to be taken down in Culloden's 2012 Summer of Meth. Deputies say this was the biggest one they've ever seen. Kind of ironic, considering they went there to serve a domestic violence petition and followed their noses to a major meth cook under a trap door.
"There was a lot of preparation, thought and work that went into the operation of this meth lab," said Sheriff McComas.
“All in a fairly closed off, small space considering how large this operation was?” asked WSAZ.com.
"Absolutely," answered Sheriff McComas.
How that can happen in quiet, old Culloden is a mystery to most.
"Oh, yeah. It's real shocking. I don't understand what's going on hardly," said Lovejoy.
A problem that's difficult for anyone to understand, as it continues to grow.
