UPDATE 1/26/2013@10:45 p.m.
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A St. Albans woman is behind bars after sheriff's deputies say she stabbed her boyfriend in the back with a butcher knife.
According to the criminal complaint, Patricia Wilson, 49, attacked Wilfred McQuabbie, 74, inside their shared apartment on High Street.
Deputies say she was intoxicated and started arguing before she plunged the knife two inches into McQuabbie's back.
Investigators found McQuabbie holding a bloody towel to his back when they arrived. He was taken to Thomas Memorial Hospital but later transferred to CAMC General because of profuse bleeding.
Chris Taylor lives in the same apartment complex and says he plans to move away to escape increasing trouble there.
"I just want to get further out," he said. "Things like this tend to happen more in these types of areas."
Wilson told a judge that she and McQuabbie had been engaged until the past couple of days.
If convicted, she could spend up to ten years in jail.
It happened Saturday afternoon at a home on High Street in St. Albans.
Police say Patricia Wilson stabbed Wilfred McQuabbie in the back.
McQuabbie was taken to the hospital.
Wilson is being arraigned.
