UPDATE: Man Charged in Fatal Crash Involving School Bus

MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Investigators say drugs were involved in a deadly accident involving a car and school bus.

The accident happened on November 7 near Breeden in Mingo County.

Following the crash, Mingo County Sheriff's Deputies said Lewis Perry was driving a vehicle that crossed the center line and crashed into the bus head on.

Perry's passenger, Randolph Marcum, of Breeden, was killed in the crash.

The driver of the school bus was not seriously hurt.

Deputies said they found pill bottles and alcohol cans in Perry's car.

On Monday, Perry, 40, of Wilsondale, was arrested and charged with felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor reckless driving.

According to the criminal complaint, medical records show that Perry tested positives for marijuana and Xanex.

Perry is being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail.

There were no kids on the school bus when the crash happened .

The accident happened about 5 p.m. Wednesday near Breeden.

Mingo County Sheriff's Deputies say Lewis Perry crossed the center line and crashed into the bus head on.

Deputies say they found pill bottles and alcohol cans in Perry's car.

Charges are expected to be filed in the case.

No kids were on the bus at the time of the crash.

MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One person is dead an another in critical condition after a crash involving a school bus in Mingo County.

Deputy M.J.Mounts of the Mingo County Sheriff's Office tells WSAZ.com no kids were on the bus at the time of the crash, which happened about 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Breeden area.

Deputy Mounts said two men were in a vehicle that crossed the center line and struck the school bus head-on. Mounts says Randolph Marcum, from the Breeden area, a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital in critical condition.

According to Deputy Mounts, several pill bottles and alcohol cans were found in the vehicle. Charges against the driver are pending.

The bus driver refused medical treatment. He was the only person on-board the bus at the time of the crash, according to Deputy Mounts.

Chief Deputy James Smith tells WSAZ.com the accident happened a little after 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Breeden area.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another person has been taken to the hospital.

No word on their condition.

Its unclear if any kids were on the bus at the time of the crash and if any other vehicles were involved.
