UPDATE: Name Released in Car vs. Train Crash near Catlettsburg, Ky.

UPDATE 2/28/13 @ 6:26 p.m.
BOYD COUNTY, Ky (WSAZ) -- The name of the driver injured when his car was hit by a train in Boyd County Thursday morning has been released.

The crash happened on old U.S. 23 at the railroad crossing in front of the Calgon Plant about 6:40 a.m.

Deputies say John Patterson, 38, of Rush, Ky. works at Calgon and was pulling into the plant when he was hit.

They say Patterson thought he could make it across the tracks before the train got there.

Patterson was taken to a Huntington hospital. He is expected to be okay.

No charges will be filed.

There are warning signs at the crossing, but no gate to prevent drivers from using the crossing when a train approaches.

Deputies say this is the second vehicle to be hit by a train at the crossing in the past few months.

BOYD COUNTY, Ky (WSAZ) -- A driver was hurt after his car was hit by a train in Boyd County Thursday morning.

The crash happened on old U.S. 23 at the railroad crossing in front of the Calgon Plant about 6:40 a.m.

The plant is just south of the I-64 Catlettsburg interchange.

A Boyd County Sheriff’s Deputy tells WSAZ.com the man was conscious following the accident. No one else was in the car.

The car was pushed some 30 feet down the track from the crossing.

The CSX train was heading south when the crash happened

Our crew at the scene says there is a small sign at the crossing warning drivers that this is an active crossing and to look for trains.

CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A Boyd County 911 dispatcher told WSAZ.com that emergency crews are getting on the scene of a crash between a train and a truck.

It happened about 6:40 a.m. Thursday on old U.S. 23 near the Calgon Plant.

No word yet on whether anyone was injured.
