UPDATE: Woman Lies about being Shot During Robbery Attempt

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An attempted robbery that ended with a woman being shot was nothing more than a lie.

Police tell WSAZ.com that Requioa Cochran shot herself in the hand Monday morning.

Cochran showed up at Women and Children's Hospital and told police someone tried to rob her on Washington Street and ended up shooting her.

Turns out -- none of that was true.

It's unclear if any charges will be filed against Cochran when she is released from the hospital.

Cochran's boyfriend was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman was shot in the hand during a robbery attempt in the KRT transit mall.

Dispatchers tell WSAZ.com, the woman showed up at CAMC Women and Children's Hospital.

The woman told police someone tried to rob her, a struggle broke out and she was shot in the hand.

Police are talking with the victim right now at the hospital.

Investigators say they have a suspect in custody.
