UDPATE: Fire Destroys Auto Service Business; Firefighters Save Skate Rink

UPDATE 6/20/12 @ 3:30 p.m.

LOUISA, Ky.-- The owner of a Louisa business that was destroyed by fire say flames were shooting close to 60 feet into the air when he arrived on the scene early Wednesday morning.

The fire at Dave’s Auto Service and Sales on Pocahontas Street in Louisa was reported about 2 a.m.

The fire started in the front of the building in the showroom according to Dave Muncy who has owned the business for 17 years.

Muncy said he felt helpless watching his business burn. He also tells WSAZ.com that he has received a lot of encouragement from friends and customers.

Munday has spent much of the day sifting through the remains to find out what's left so he can determine the next step.

"It's a little early for me to decide what to do right now but I do plan to rebuild" Muncy said.

Two buildings along with equipment and 6 cars were destroyed in the fire.

Seven fire departments were called in to battle the fire.

Firefighters returned to the scene Wednesday afternoon the fire rekindled.

A big part of the firefighting effort was to save the stating rink which is located within 15-20 feet of the auto service business. At one point, firefighters were on the roof of Southside Roller Rink spraying it with water to keep the building t from catching fire.

No injuries were reported.

LOUISA, Ky. (WSAZ) -- An overnight fire has destroyed a Louisa, Ky. auto service business, but the town skating rink was saved.

The fire, in the 500-block of Pocahontas Street, was reported about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The fire destroyed Dave’s Auto Service and Sales. A number of cars in the garage were also destroyed.

Seven fire departments were called to the scene to battle the fire.

We’re told the owner of the business and his employees are devastated by the fire.

No word on how the fire started.

LOUISA, Kentucky (WSAZ) -- Lawrence County 911 dispatchers say fire crews are on the scene of a structure fire in the area of the 500-block of Pocahontas Street in Louisa.

No injuries have been reported.
