UPDATE 11/8/12 @ 10:15 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman is headed to 10 years in prison for stabbing and killing a man in Huntington.
Ciesha Brown, 22, was sentenced Thursday.
She was originally charged with murder in the stabbing death of Lamar Jackson. He died in March 2011 after Brown stabbed him in the beck with a kitchen knife.
In September, she made a plea deal in the case, reducing the charge from murder to voluntary manslaughter.
Thursday, Brown told the court she was sorry for what happened and has had a lot of time to think about what did she.
She asked for home confinement, but Judge Alfred Ferguson turned down that request. He said he thought the plea agreement was fair and that Brown could have been convicted on a more serious charge.
"The bottom line is there's somebody that she killed and you've got to pay for that," Judge Ferguson said.
Ciesha Brown was originally charged with murder in the death of Lamar Jackson. Tuesday during a court hearing, she pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.
Jackson was stabbed to death in March 2011 in the 1800-block of Rural Avenue in Huntington. He was originally from Detroit but had lived in Huntington for a couple of years.
Brown and Jackson were reportedly romantically involved at the time of the crime.
She will be sentenced in November.
In a hearing on Tuesday morning in Cabell County, Ciesha Brown's trial was scheduled for July 17.
She is charged in the death of Lamar Jackson. Jackson died from a single stab wound to the neck in March 2011.

According to court documents, Ciesha Brown, 20, has been indicted on a first degree murder charge.
A Cabell County Grand Jury indicted Brown for an incident that happened in March.
Brown allegedly stabbed Lamar Jackson, 31, of Detroit, in the neck during an argument in the 1800-block of Rural Avenue in Huntington, W.Va.
After being stabbed, Jackson ran from the home and collapsed on the porch of a near-by house where he died.
Brown was arrested and charged with the stabbing death back in March.
The victim was Lamar Jackson. He was 31 and originally from Detroit. The suspect is Ciesha Brown. She's 20 and recently became involved with Jackson.
Jackson's longtime girlfriend and the mother of two of his children says she and Jackson recently got into a fight over Brown. Now, she's fearful his death is the result of a fatal attraction.
“Was she a girlfriend?” WSAZ.com's Carrie Cline asked.
“I guess. He started seeing her, and I kicked him out. I told him he could come back last night, but I guess they got into an argument,” said Jasmine Hill, Jackson’s girlfriend.
Police say that argument with Ciesha Brown may have led to the stabbing death of Jackson. The Detroit native had only moved to Huntington a couple of years ago. That's when he and Hill started a relationship. The couple has two children together.
“He loved his kids; he loved me,” Hill said.
But, according to police, Jackson was at a house in the 1300-block of Rural Avenue Monday morning. That's when he was stabbed inside. He ran out of the house and across the street to a neighbor's home. That's where he rang the doorbell, collapsed and died.
“How disturbing is it to wake up and find someone bleeding on your porch?” Cline asked.
“I was upset to wake up and see that. I knew the guy from the bar. But, other than that, just making sure my daughter didn't see anything. That's what I was mainly concerned about,” George said.
That neighbor, George, grew up in Huntington. He says this has always been a quiet neighborhood and considers this an isolated incident.
“That's domestic. I know the guy, not like that, but he's been in my bar. He's a cool guy,” George said.
Brown is in the Western Regional Jail. She's charged with first-degree murder. Jackson has four other children; they live in Detroit.
The victim is 31-year-old Lamar Jackson, according to police.
Jackson was found on the porch of a house at 1302 18th Street about 6:20 a.m.
Huntington Police say the stabbing actually happened inside a house at 1826 Rural Avenue.
Jackson then ran to a friend’s house to try and get help; that is where he collapsed and died. That house is at 1302 18th Street.
Police say that 20-year-old Ciesha Brown was arrested at the scene. Brown has now been charged with first-degree murder.
Jackson died of a single stab wound to the neck, according to police. They also say the stabbing was the result of a domestic dispute between Jackson and Brown. The mother of two of Jackson's children, Jasmine Hill, says that Jackson was recently romantically involved with Brown.
Hill also says Jackson was originally from Detroit and has lived in Huntington the past couple of years.
The victim was found on the porch of a house in the 1800-block of Rural Avenue about 6:15 a.m.
Huntington Police say the stabbing actually happened at another house and the victim ran to that house to try and get help from a friend.
Police tell WSAZ.com that a woman was arrested at the scene. They say the woman told them that she didn’t mean to do it.
