UPDATE: Worker Killed in Plant Accident in Boyd County; Name Released

BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The name of a worker killed in an industrial accident has been released.

Boyd County Coroner Mark Hammond tells WSAZ.com Shaun Shelton, 27, died just before 8 a.m. Friday in a conveyor belt accident at Stein Inc.

The coroner says preliminary reports show the cause of death appears to be asphyxiation.

Shelton's body has been sent to Frankfort, Ky., for a full autopsy.

He leaves behind a wife and 3-year-old child.

Another worker suffered a minor ankle injury in the accident. He was taken to Kings Daughter's Medical Center for treatment.

BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- One man is dead, another injured in an industrial accident in Boyd County Friday morning.

The Boyd County EMS Director and the County Coroner tell WSAZ.com that just before 8 am, a local man died in a conveyor belt incident at Stein Inc..

Stein Inc. is a contractor for AK Steel and is located on property behind the plant.

Stein contracts with AK Steel to crush rock and slag.

Coroner Mark Hammond says the worker died on site.

The victim has been taken to the county morgue for identification. His body will then go to Frankfort for an autopsy.

We're told a second Stein worker suffered an ankle injury.

We called the Stein Company and they had no comment at this time.
