ORIGINAL STORY 7/7/14 @ 1:24 p.m.
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two black bears, including a cub, have been making their rounds in and around South Charleston.

The two bears made their first appearance Monday morning along Interstate 64 near the Montrose exit. That's when the bears crossed the interstate and then jumped a fence and headed down 1st Avenue.

Officials with the Division of Natural Resources along with South Charleston Police spent the morning trying to locate the bears to get them back into their habitat. At some point, the two bears got separated.

DNR officials tell WSAZ.com the cub was seen running across Oakes Field. It was last seen in the parking lot near Gestamp along MacCorkle Avenue before it jumped another fence and headed into a wooded area.

The other bear was spotted near D Street, but officials never found it again.

That's when the search was called off about 1 p.m. Monday.

WSAZ.com talked with one of the people who saw one of the bears near his home. The homeowner says he was putting out his trash when he noticed the bear on the street.

The bear just kept moving down the street.
