BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Boone County man is facing attempted murder charges after a crash that happened over the weekend.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office arrested Darrell Wayne Griffy, 54, of Bloomingrose Tuesday morning.
Chief Deputy Chad Barker tells WSAZ.com that Griffy and his son were in a vehicle, chasing another vehicle with the son's ex-girlfriend inside.
Barker says that the incident started in Comfort, when the men approached the vehicle at a service station.
The driver of the vehicle was able to get away, but Barker says Griffy followed him to the Racine area, and rammed his vehicle, causing him to wreck into a moving box truck. Barker says after that, Griffy rammed into the vehicle head-on.
Several people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Griffy is charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of malicious assault. He is being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail.
