NEW INFO: Brother of Murder Suspect Facing Charges

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The brother of a murder suspect in Kanawha County is also facing charges.

Tremain Straughter is accused of harassing two witnesses.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say he yelled, pounded on the witnesses' door and threatened to kill them on several occasions.

Deputies say the witnesses saw Straughter's brother, Tremale shot and killed Donovan Taylor back in February on Emory Avenue in Rand.

Tremale is waiting to go on trial on a first degree murder charge.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man has been charged in a deadly shooting in Rand.

According to a news release, Tremale Straughter is charged with killing Donovan Taylor, also known as Don Don. The murder happened near a house in the 5400-block of Midland Drive.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say they were called to the scene about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, due to a report of loud music. While enroute, there was an updated call that gunshots were heard in that same area.

When deputies arrived they found a car crashed on Emory Avenue with Taylor's body inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Straughter had left the scene in a Dodge Magnum before deputies arrived. However, a couple of hours later investigators located Straughter along with his car along Route 60.

Neighbors tell WSAZ.com they heard at least 12 gunshots at the time of the shooting. A neighbor says the driver pulled up to the victim's car and fired several shots and took off. Then, minutes later, that same vehicle returned to the scene and fired a few more shots before speeding off again.

The neighbor also says a stray bullet hit the side of her mother's home. She wasn't hurt.

Straughter is charged with murder. He is expected to be arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court late Thursday afternoon.

During the investigation, Kanawha County closed several schools in the area as a precaution. A couple of libraries in the area also decided to close until there was an arrest.

A possible motive in the case is not being released.

RAND, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An arrest has been made in a deadly shooting in Rand.

The suspect is expected to arraigned on the charges Thursday afternoon in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

A man was found shot to death Thursday morning in front of a house in the 5400-block of Midland Drive.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies tell WSAZ.com someone called 911 about 4:30 a.m. Thursday to report a noise complaint and then the person heard gunshots in the area.

When deputies got on scene the victim was found in a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors tell WSAZ.com they heard at least 12 gunshots at the time of the shooting. A neighbor says a driver pulled up to the victim's car and fired several shots and took off. Then, minutes later, that same vehicle returned to the scene and fired a few more shots before speeding off again.

Kanawha County Schools have closed the following schools in the East Bank area:
Riverside High School
Cedar Grove Middle School
Dupont Middle School
East Bank Middle School
Mary Ingles Elementary School
Malden Elementary
Midland Trail Elementary
Belle Elementary
Cedar Grove Elementary
Pratt Elementary
Sharon Dawes Elementary
Chesapeake Elementary
Marmet Elementary.

These schools were originally on a two-hour delay.

A couple of libraries in the area were also closed during the investigation.

A man was found shot to death in front of a house in the 5400-block of Midland Drive.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies tell WSAZ.com someone called 911 about 4:30 a.m. Thursday to report a noise complaint and then the person heard gunshots in the area.

The Riverside Public Library, Marmet Branch Library and the Mobile Library have also closed. An employee at one of the libraries tells WSAZ.com once they know a suspect has been charged in the case, they will reopen to the public.

RAND, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A number of schools in Kanawha County are on a 2-hour delay following a deadly shooting in Rand Thursday morning.

The man was found shot to death in front of a house in the 5400 Block of Midland Drive.

Metro dispatchers tell WSAZ.com the man was shot several times. The shooting was reported about 4:30 a.m.

The man’s name has not been released. There is also no word from deputies on the suspect(s) in the shooting.

The shooting investigation has shut down Midland Drive from Emory Avenue to Furman Drive and that is affecting some schools in the East Bank area.

The Kanawha County School system is delaying the start of the following schools by two hours: Riverside High School, Cedar Grove Middle School, Dupont Middle School, East Bank Middle School, Mary Ingles Elementary School, Malden Elementary, Midland Trail Elementary, Belle Elementary, Cedar Grove Elementary, Pratt Elementary, Sharon Dawes Elementary, Chesapeake Elementary and Marmet Elementary.

RAND, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man was found shot to death in front of a house in Rand.

A Metro 911 dispatcher told WSAZ.com that it happened at 4:30 a.m. Thursday in the 5400 Block of Midland Drive.

The dispatcher said the man had been shot multiple times and died at the scene.

His name hasn't been released.

No word yet on whether there are any suspects.

Because it is an active crime scene, the Kanawha County Sheriffs Department has shut down Midland Drive from Emory Avenue to Furman Drive in Rand.
