'Bridge Day' to Celebrate 34th Year

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A West Virginia fall tradition is set to take place again this Saturday.

Bridge Day celebrates its 34th year at the New River Gorge Bridge near Fayetteville, W.Va.

Bridge Day is the only day of the year that folks can walk on the bridge. It is also the only day they can jump from it, which draws base jumping enthusiasts from throughout the world.

Thousands of people are expected to attend.

The government shutdown isn't expected to affect the event.
