NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two people are recovering in the hospital Tuesday night after a car rear-ended a coal truck on Route 25 near the Pilot gas station, Nitro Police say.
It happened about 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Nitro Police say the car crashed into the rear of the coal truck.
The person driving the car and the front seat passenger went to the hospital after both were extricated from the car.
There was no word on their medical conditions as of Tuesday night.
The backseat passenger in the car took off after the accident.
The coal truck driver was not hurt.
It was reported about 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Part of Route 25 is closed near the crash, which is in the vicinity of Nitro High School.
A HealthNet helicopter was headed to the scene to fly a victim to the hospital. One person was reported trapped in the wreckage.
First responders from Nitro and Poca are on the scene.
