WAYNE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman from Ceredo, who pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in the death of boyfriend, learned her punishment Friday.

Last month, 22-year-old Sara Worstell pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of 22-year-old Michael Meachem.

Friday, during a hearing in Wayne County Circuit Court, Worstell was sentenced to 6 months and 1 day in jail.

In November 2012, Worstell was indicted for murder in Meachem’s death.

Ceredo Police were called to an apartment complex along Greenwood Drive in the early morning hours of November 27, 2011 where they found Meachem on the floor, unresponsive. He was taken to a Huntington hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Wayne County Prosecutor Thomas Plymale told WSAZ.com that the autopsy showed that Meachem died of positional asphyxiation.

Plymale said Worstell told investigators that Meachem was on his knees and she was behind him and had him in a choke hold. Plymale also said Meachem was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
