CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- People who live in the City of Charleston won't have to wait in line to get their free trash bags this year.
The city's garage bag distribution will now take place in stores.
Starting Saturday, residents that received a coupon for the bags in the mail will be able to redeem the bags at participating stores when the stores are open for business, according to a news release.
You can pick up the bags at Foodland and Drug Emporium in Kanawha City, Drug Emporium at Patrick Street, Pile Hardware on the west side and the Purple Onion in Capitol Market. Other locations may be added in the future.
In the past, the bags were distributed under the interstate bridge near Pennsylvania Avenue.
Garbage and recycling bags will also no longer be available for pick-up in either the City Collector’s Office or City Manager’s Office.
There will be a second distribution next February.
