HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- After 14 years of operations, the Jeffrey E. George Comfort House in Huntington is closing its doors.

The house provides a temporary place for families to stay when relatives are recovering from serious illness in any of our region's hospitals.

Officials at the Comfort House tell that it will remain open and maintained for those who are now taking chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

However, whenever they are finished and the last patient is gone, the house will be closed.

They expect to close their doors in the next 6-8 weeks.

Executive Director Jo Fannin says they couldn't work out a mortgage agreement with the bank to keep the house open to the public.

Fannin says it will be hard to leave the place she loves so much.
