VANCEBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A couple from Lewis County, Ky., have been arrested on multiple charges following a lengthy drug investigation by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Johnny Bivens says his office targeted the residence of 37-year-old Fred Pollard.

On Monday afternoon, deputies conducted of a search of the residence in the 2100 block of Old Trace Road.

Inside, Bivens says investigators found an indoor marijuana grow, chemicals used to manufacture meth, as well as the finished product.

Bivens says that this activity took place in the presence of the couple’s 7-month-old child.

Sheriff Bivens says deputies also located a barn in a wooded area where the meth was being made.

Arrested were Fred Pollard and 26-year-old Amy Adkins.
Bivens said Adkins, who is pregnant, admitted to smoking meth earlier in the day.

The couple has been charged with cultivating marijuana over five plants, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a minor.

“It's sad that the child had to live in this environment, but getting these two feckless individuals in jail where they belong not only makes the community a safer place to live but also gives this child a chance to flourish,” Bivens said.

Additional charges of manufacturing meth are expected to filed against the couple. They are being held in the Lewis County Detention Center.
