UPDATE: Damage Potential of Potholes; Crews Working to Fix Them in Huntington

UPDATE 2/18/14 @ 8:15 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- If your car was a person and it hit a pothole, it's a pretty safe bet that person would be suffering from a sprained ankle.

Eddie Parsons makes his living in the undercarriage of your car.

"It's not just tires," Parsons said. "It's ball joints, struts, tie-rods, suspension systems. A pothole, has the potential to do more than $1000 damage to the front end of a car."

Huntington's Street Department is working to patch the problems as quickly as they're reported.

"We're working from this list," said Mike Pennington. "People call in the problem, and we'll get to it ask quickly as we can. We realize it's temporary fix with coal patch, but it's too early in the season for the asphalt plants to be open."

To report a pothole, you can call the Huntington Streets Division at (304) 696-4483 or Mayor Steve William's Office at (304) 696-5540.
