MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A major DUI checkpoint on U.S. 35 in Mason County already had netted three arrests, including a more than $1,000 prescription pill bust late Wednesday night, West Virginia State Police say.
Troopers shut down all four lanes at the checkpoint. They said it’s one of the most dangerous stretches of road in the region, and the inconvenience drivers may have experienced is well worth the end result -- getting drunk drivers off the roads.
The drug bust and arrests had been made as of 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Troopers planned to be on the roadway until 2 a.m. Thursday.
